The four Seville bookings everything else gets planned around.
Two monuments, a tablao seat and the deck on top of the Setas. What each one costs, and what the people who booked it say.
01The first morningRoyal Alcázar Entry TicketTimed entry to the royal palace and its gardens. Take the earliest slot, before the groups reach the Patio de las Doncellas.
02The towerCathedral and La Giralda Entry TicketCathedral entry with the climb up the Giralda. The old minaret goes up on ramps rather than steps, which is why everybody manages it.
03The eveningLive Flamenco Dancing Show Ticket at the TheaterAn hour of dancing at arm's length in a theatre seat. Book the early show and eat afterwards, the way the city does.
04The last of the lightSetas de Sevilla Entry TicketThe walkway on top of the Setas, looking down on the old roofs. It costs less than lunch and it is best at sunset.
Alcázar, cathedral, or both on one guided ticket.
The two monuments stand ten minutes apart and sell four different ways in. Here is what each way costs and who it suits.
★★★★★★★★★★ 4.6 · Royal Alcázar Entry Ticket
The Alcázar aloneTimed entry to the palace and the gardens. Two hours, and the reason most people come.
Cathedral and GiraldaEntry plus the ramp up the bell tower. An hour, less if you skip the roof terraces.
Both, with a guideOne booking, both monuments, neither queue. The half-day that gets the big two done.
The quieter palacesCasa de Pilatos and Las Dueñas. The same tilework, a tenth of the people.

Seville does not really start until the heat goes off the streets.
Tablaos run two or three shows a night and the room is small enough to hear the heels land. The bars fill after ten, the ghost walks work the same lanes an hour earlier, and nothing closes in a hurry.
Seville's most booked days and nights.

Three days out that leave Seville before nine and are back for dinner.
Andalucía from a Seville base: a town split by a gorge, a hill palace three hours east, and a mosque with a cathedral standing inside it.

Ronda and the white villages
Ronda stands either side of a hundred-metre gorge with an eighteenth-century bridge strung across the gap, and the coach usually stops at Setenil de las Bodegas, where the houses are built in under an overhanging shelf of rock. It is the longest of the three days out and the one people describe first when they get home.

Granada and the Alhambra
The Alhambra sits three hours east, and its Nasrid Palaces admit a fixed number of people every half hour. In spring those slots are gone weeks ahead, so the value of a day trip is the ticket as much as the coach, the guide and the walk down into the Albaicín.

Córdoba and the Mezquita
Eight hundred red and white arches, with a Renaissance cathedral dropped into the middle of them and left there. Córdoba is the shortest run from Seville, and most trips add Carmona on the way or the patio lanes of the Judería afterwards.

What a day in Seville actually costs.
Every tour and ticket on the site, grouped by price. Most of the city's best hours come in under the price of dinner.
Monument entry, a tablao seat, the river boat, an hour on a bike and every walking tour in the old town.
Guided monument mornings, tapas crawls with the tables already booked, cooking classes, and the coach days to Ronda and Córdoba.
Triana keeps its own tablaos, its own market and its own opinion of Seville.
Ten minutes over the Isabel II bridge the city changes register: ceramic workshops along the old pottery street, a covered market built on top of a castle, and flamenco rooms that fill with people who live there.
Everything in Triana →In Seville a tapa is a portion size, not a section of the menu.
Three or four each, standing at the bar where it costs less, then out and on to the next place after two rounds. A guided crawl earns its money on the first night, mostly by teaching you where not to eat on the second.

Four Seville bookings that will not wait for you.
Most of this city can be arranged over breakfast. These four run on timed slots, licensed vehicles and closures that take no interest in the dates on your flights.
- 01Royal Alcázar Entry TicketEntry runs on half-hour slots with a cap on each one. The early slots, the only cool ones, go first.
- 02Granada Day Trip with Alhambra and AlbaicínThe Nasrid Palaces admit a fixed number of people an hour. When a Granada day trip sells out, that ticket is the reason.
- 03Caminito del Rey Hike Day TripThe walkway takes a set number of walkers a day and shuts outright when the wind gets up.
- 04Doñana National Park Day TripThe park is entered by licensed vehicle on a couple of departures a day. Miss them and there is no other way in.
Seville in July is a morning city and an evening city.
From June the middle of the day belongs indoors and everyone here plans around it. The monuments open early, the old palaces keep their patios shaded and watered, the kitchens run classes through the worst of it, and the streets refill at nine.
